KATHLEEN A. FRANKOVIC is Director of Surveys and Producer for CBS News, where she has major responsibility for the design, analysis and broadcasting of results from CBS News and CBS News/New York Times polls. Since 1996, she has been a Senior Producer for CBS News election coverage, and served on the 3-person panel evaluating CBS News¡ô¯ô 2000 election night broadcast. Since 2002, she has managed the CBS News Decision Desk, projecting outcomes in state and national elections.

She is a co author of The Election of 1980, The Election of 1992, and The Election of 2000 (all published by Chatham House), and has published many articles on elections and public opinion, include "Sex and Politics: New Alignments, Old Issues," one of the first academic analyses of the gender gap. She also speaks and writes extensively about the development and use of polling by newspapers and television.

Frankovic has been the President of both the World Association for Public Opinion Research and the American Association for Public Opinion Research. Frankovic received an A.B. from Cornell University in 1968, and a Ph.D. in political science from Rutgers University in 1974. Before joining CBS News, she taught political science at the University of Vermont, and continues an association with the academic community, and held visiting positions at Cornell University and the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania. She now works on both U.S. coasts: in New York at CBS News headquarters and in San Francisco, where she lives with her husband Hal Glatzer, a computer journalist and mystery writer.
